I guess anyone who hasn’t been living in a cave for the last week knows about the tsunami in South East Asia. The death toll is estimated to be over 150,000 according to the UN. Every time I check the news the number seems to have gone up.

The death toll is about 30 times that of 9/11. Nature can be more destructive than humans. This time, there’s no one to blame. I wonder if that helps people to unite. No polarization or warmongering, just trying to move on and help people recover.

Sad how these things happen to those who can afford it the least. Not that I’m saying that I wished the tsunami had struck a more industrialized nation like the US or Canada. But if it had, measures would have been and still are in place for earlier warning. Less people would have died, and maybe it would have been easier to recover, too. Why is it that people who had the least had to lose more?

   Dear Elliot Back,
   Thank you for your most informative comment on my site, which I feel I must comment on myself.

   Firstly, I appreciate and respect your opinion, but I would like to clear up a coupl of points you mis-judgingly made.

   First – the “chunk” you refer to regarding my X-Rating, states NO where that I EXPECT a high rating – it does however state that I personally will NOT rate anyone lower than an 8 – this is because, in my opinion, no matter what someone’s blog reflects, it is something they personally invested their time into making, and for that I don’t think anyone deserves alow rating. If I dislike or disagree with a blog THAT much, I choose not to rate it, but that is me.

   Also you refer to the abundance of “useless” graphics in my content. If you read my post that actually includes graphics (as usually they do ont) you would realise these useless graphics are individaul link buttons that I spent a lot of my personal time making for OTHER bloggers free of payment. I was merely showcasing the buttons to other people who might nbe interested to see how the free link buttons turned out. I actually thought this was a very nice thing for me to do, as they take quite a bit of thought and effort (I styled each one after that individuals website), especially as I am a very busy person as it is.
   While my site may not offer insightful posts in the same sense that your site does, this was never my intention (for this site anyways). I was merely creating a friendly environment where I could meet fellow bloggers and make new friends.

   Finally, if you check out my side bar you will see, one of the things I am doing with my blog is dedicating certain days “Commenting for Charity” Days, when for everyone who comments I will persoanlly donate a $1 per comment to a pre-selected charity, so again, though my posts may not be insightful, I am trying to do some good with my little bit of cyber-space.

   I have a feeling you rated me a 1, as after your comment appeared my rating dropped significatly. I know i was rated a one from the math. I cannot prove you did, but in the event it was you, I am saddened that you think all you could give me was a 1 or a 10.

   By the way – I have not rated your site, not because I think it’s good or bad, to my liking or not, just wantedto be sure you know that.

   Again, thank you for taking the timeto express your thoughts on my page.

   Interesting to see BE politics appear here. While your page doesn’t have anything explicit, I just felt an overall sensation of rate-mongering. In my opinion, just make a great page–people will or won’t vote for it. Personally, I don’t even look at BE that often–just surf occasionally. Don’t take the comment too personally–just some suggestions to improve your layout. And I did like the charity box, btw.
