Body Painting Spectacular in Shanghai
Xinhua has a gallery from a body painting exhibition. Here’s a sample photo that should tell you exactly what’s wrong with the whole gallery:

As you can see, the area in blue highlights an artistic defect. When you do body painting on models wearing any kind of clothes, you defeat the purpose of using the body as a canvas. The extra lines and bumps from the clothing totally detract from the artistic expression. But then again, nudity in China is a big no no…

Actually, nudity isn’t really a “no-no” in China (though it wouldn’t be on Xinhua), just porn. Quite a bit of “artistic” nudity is available, and it’s getting more explicit. I think that 1960s and 1970s Playboy would be allowed, if it were packaged and marketed right.
it is artistique ! but quite annoying people are not just naked.
jajajaja, lovely woman.
Miss china!!, jejeje
Bye.
I agree about painting on clothed models – Not really BODYpainting in my view. Visit my site http://www.bodypaintinglondon.co.uk Every painting is on totally nude models and no coy poses.
I think that the key bit of info was ..”Where was the Venue where the Photo was taken” Even in my hometown there are places where I can paint the model any way that I want an others where the Local laws Do not allow the model to be nude (nipples and such) to be exposed where there is Hard liquor of any kind . (HUGE NASTY FINE)
Personaly yes its not ideal painting canvas (and I hate painting on clothing) but sometimes its better then not painting at all.
Hi We are going to be painting at the festival. Unfortunately you have picked a very bad image regarding the underwear. as white shows up everything. It is unhygienic to paint peoples “bits”
you should come to the festival to check out for yourself how amazing this artwork is.

Julian
