This is old, but I love this Fuck Bush t-shirt that Peking Duck points out:

It literally says “去你马的,Bush” which literally means “Go to your mother’s [implied], Bush.” It’s equivalent to the english “motherfucker” literally, which in this context I find quite charming! How better to voice your opposition of the Western influence in China!

I learned my first real Chinese cognate today, sanmingzhi, meaning “sandwich.” It’s pronounced san1 ming2 zhi4. How cool is that–borrowed words. Leave me more in the comments–US place names don’t count though.

The Chinese word for To Have Fun is 玩 (wan2). The character is quite cute, with the right portion having tails!

The Chinese word for lake is 湖 (hu2). The character is very beautiful and proportional.
