Asian Tattoos — Seen in Mexico

Posted in Culture, Art, Characters, Tattoos by Elliott Back on May 26th, 2006. [Del.icio.us]

The first is either a or the of 知道 without the 口. It was spotted in Cancun, Mexico, on the back of a French tourist:

The second is harder to identify. It is something, maybe a , followed by a :

I am going to send these over to Tian at Hanzi Smatter for his expert opinion, and let you know what he says.

The first one could also be 失 (lost), here is the reference link:

The tattoo in second photo was too blurry.

    Both are idiotic.

    Yoz Elliot dude!

I believe it to be 知, just that the lady was leaning on her side, blocking out the 口. The words are smudged badly in the 2nd pic, especially the top letter but i’m guessing it to be 泉, just with the extra dots at either side. Both letters could be a name given to him by those roadside fortune tellers when he went travelling in some Asian country.

    Hope that helps :)

I think the top letter of the second tattoo could be ” 樂”
meanin happiness/ music, but in this case it would make more sense with ” happiness” since the second letter is ” 喜” meanin “joy”. The guy who tattooed this probably had no idea what those letters stand for because there is no such thing as “樂喜” only ” 喜樂” meaning ” happiness/ joy”.
    Hope that helps!
